i am doing modular kitchen in my house @ Pune.
During couple months research, i found that if i go for some Kitchen providers in the market it would cost me around 1.5 - 2 lacks. However if i use best quality material and get it done through local workerts myself, it would cost me less than 50 thousand.
Always ask for discount on MRP. Generally discount range from 25 - 45 percent.
You have to consider lot of things e.g.
Baskets
Either you can buy branded drawers (also called tandom boxes) or you can use Stainless Steel baskets.
Everyday / Evershine are 2 good brands. Don't buy butterfly or In n Out. Everyday is the best brand available. EveryDay offers pure SS304 baskets in Plantinum Range. They also have Silver range. When buying make sure that basket box has Planium written on it.
I would vote for Platinum and you will get 25 percent disount on it. Don't buy on lesser discount. Find out nearest Dealer from www.everyday-india.com
Channels
There are 2 types of channels available : telescopic and bottom runners. For tandom boxes you have to use bottom runners (qudra channels). For stainless steel baskets you can use either bottom runners or telescopic.
Cost of telescopic channels start from 4 rupees per inch (regular ones ..don't use them) to 12 rupees inch(Premium ones e.g. Onyx, solo, Easyslide etc.)
In Premium telescopic you also have option of SoftClose, Auto Close channels. Don't buy auto close / push open ones. Soft Close Telscopic are recommended.
Enox And Hettich are 2 good Brands . Hettich being the best.
Hettich Telescopic Soft close MRP is around 1000 rupees and Hettich telescopic Regular costs you around 580 rupees. you will get 45 % discount on these MRPs from authorized dealer. Don't buy on lesser discount.
structure / Frame
Either you can use SS 204 frame or make marine Ply compartments. SS 204 frame generally costs you per KG basis. Around 250 rupees per KG. for 9 feet frame weight is generally around 40 KG. So that should not cost you more than 10,000 rupees. when making SS frame make sure that you make with detachable foldings for baskets.
Make sure that you buy baskets / channels and provide them to frame maker. Also ensure that Foldings are in right angles (90 degress) and they are inside the outser frame. Otherwise it will be a problem when fitting shtters on them.
Shutters
MDF is cheaper than Marine Ply. but durability wise i would recommend MarinePly.
Only buy marine plywood from Century Brand. for 19 MM it costs 173 rupees per sq. feet.
from authorized century dealer you will get 35 % discount on it.
Don't buy any other brand and buy only from authorized dealer. in pune GM sanhvi is the dealer for century plywood besides HP petrol Pump (Shop name "Designer XXXX").
If you are making it from a local carpenter, they will charge 30 % labour change on material. In this case don't give labour charge on baskets / SS Frame. Give only on Plywood / Sunmike.
In Sunmike Royal Touch is the best brand. They have a showroom @ Kalparatu Plaza Bhavani Peth Pune). You can either buy plain (SF) finish or texture / Channel (CF) finish.
SF Royal Touch sunmikes 8 by 4 feet sheet cost you 1000 rupees. For chaneel finish you need to pay 500 rupees extra. i.e. 1500 rupees.
Sink
Sathe and Company near Neharu memorial Camp Pune is the place where you can get to see variety of sinks from Nirali, Crystal brand. I would vote for Niral. They have extra deep (10 inch) model. Ask for discount. Don't buy less than 15 % discount on Nirali Sinks.
Matt finish sinks have better looks than plain finish or anti scratch finish.
Granite
You can fit Granite directly on Frame (caller Modular Ota) or fit it in the walls (called Civil Ota).
I would vote for Modular Ota which costs you less and easy to install and doesn't have dust problems during installation. Modular Ota labour charges are 200 rupees per running feet. labour chanrge for Civil Ota are 350 rupees per running feet. Don't pay even a single ruppe extra for labour charges.
Tiles
you can bury tiles of you choice. Don't buy too costly highlithers. Make sure that electiral ponits / boards don't overlap on your motif tiles / highlighters as they are very costly.
Labour chage for 1 by 1 sq feet tiles (small ones) varies from 1 by 2 or 2 by 2 sq. feet tiles. So make sure that you confirm labour charges for the size of tiles you are going to use. Generally labour charge for 1 by 1 sq feet tiles is 10 rupees per sq. feet. For 2 by 1 and 2 by 2 it's 20 rupees per sq. feet. If you have existing tiles, remove them would cost you 5 rupees extra labour charge.

All the Kitchen Providers in the market, provide estimate for above items only.
Plus they use substandard quality matarial. E.g. Nobody will use branded steel baskets. They use lcoal steel baskets and the real cost of those baskets is just 12000 rupees. And its not guaranteed SS304. Plus they don't use Branded chanensl. They use 10-12 rupees inch channels. Frame also they don't provide in SS. they use MS (powser coated) frames.
They use such substandard quality material and also cost you around 1,00,000. So watch out for it.
